Gareth Berliner is a stand up comedian who has had Crohn's disease for 21 years.
As a sufferer of Crohn's disease for more than 21 years myself, it's great to come across someone who has managed to build a comedy career out of this otherwise far from humorous disease.
Gareth's Crohn's disease is quite extensive, to the point of having had the majority of his 'guts' removed, but that hasn't stopped him from doing what he loves doing. And as he says "It takes 'guts' to be a comedian!"
In this video Gareth goes behind the laboratory doors to find out what the future holds in terms of diagnosis, prevention and management of Crohn's disease.

I'm currently recovering from an emergency hospital admission due to Crohn's and feeling, as well as looking, like a dressmakers pin cushion, so Gareth's comedy clips provide some welcome light relief, whilst the scientists offer some insights into the potential of their research.
If you are suffering from Crohn's disease, or indeed any long standing illness, I do hope you find something to laugh at in Gareth's comedy sketches.
Life is far too short not to laugh while you can.
Wishing you well...
Diane
